Ixcanul Volcano 2015

María, a Kaqchikel Maya peasant girl, lives with her parents on a coffee plantation at the foot of the Ixcanul Volcano. Bitten by the "grass-is-greener-on-the-other-side-of-the-mountain" bug, she befriends a coffee harvester who wants to run to the USA. But he just gets her pregnant and disappears. Here the melodrama ends and María's discovery of her people's rituals and beliefs begin.
